PROTIM® FrameSaver™ is a unique product designed to be applied in-situ to help prevent the damage caused by decay fungi and wood-boring insects in timber framing.
PROTIM® FrameSaver™ will help prevent fungal decay by wood destroying fungi, including those causing brown rot and soft rot, and will arrest decay already present in wood.
Easy to apply and effective, PROTIM® FrameSaver™ is suitable for use on above ground and weather protected interior timber. One of the key advantages of PROTIM FrameSaver is its ability to penetrate and effectively treat wet or dry timber after construction. This is particularly advantageous when water damage has occurred due to problems with plumbing or weather tightness.
PROTIM® FrameSaver™ is a stable liquid formulation containing boron (29.2% m/v as boric acid) plus a quaternary ammonium compound in a glycol solvent, intended for use as a preventative and/or remedial wood preservative.
The key active-ingredient in PROTIM® FrameSaver™ is boric acid (in the form of disodium octaborate tetrahydrate) which has been used for many years as a highly effective fungicide and insecticide for interior applications. PROTIM FrameSaver is effective on any species of wood.
PROTIM® FrameSaver™ is supplied in a ready for use form that requires no further mixing or dilution. The product is non-flammable, has no unpleasant odour, and can be over-painted with most paints once dry; follow paint manufacturer’s recommendations. PROTIM FrameSaver is non-corrosive and is compatible with all common building materials including wallboards, insulation, wiring, fastenings etc.
NOTE: PROTIM® FrameSaver™ is soluble in water and will therefore be at risk of being depleted if continually exposed to wetting; under these conditions periodic inspection and reapplication is strongly recommended.
PROTIM® FrameSaver™ is available in 5 and 20 litre plastic containers, with larger 200 and 1000 litre sizes available upon request.
The product is available either clear or with a red dye to aid in identifying coverage.
